RA
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that may affect many tissues and organs, but principally attacks synovial joints. The process produces an inflammatory response of the synovium (synovitis) secondary to hyperplasia of synovial cells, excess synovial fluid, and the development of pannus in the synovium. The pathology of the disease process often leads to the destruction of articular cartilage and ankylosis of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis can also produce diffuse inflammation in the lungs, pericardium, pleura, and sclera, and also nodular lesions, most common in subcutaneous tissue. Although the cause of rheumatoid arthritis is unknown, autoimmunity plays a pivotal role in both its chronicity and progression, and RA is considered a systemic autoimmune disease.
About 1% of the world's population is afflicted by rheumatoid arthritis, women three times more often than men. Onset is most frequent between the ages of 40 and 50, but people of any age can be affected. It can be a disabling and painful condition, which can lead to substantial loss of functioning and mobility if not adequately treated. It is a clinical diagnosis made on the basis of symptoms, physical exam, radiographs (X-rays) and labs, although the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) publish diagnostic guidelines. Diagnosis and long-term management are typically performed by a rheumatologist, an expert in auto-immune diseases.[1]
Various treatments are available. Non-pharmacological treatment includes physical therapy, orthoses, occupational therapy and nutritional therapy but do not stop progression of joint destruction. Analgesia (painkillers) and anti-inflammatory drugs, including steroids, are used to suppress the symptoms, while disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) are required to inhibit or halt the underlying immune process and prevent long-term damage. In recent times, the newer group of biologics has increased treatment options.[1]

My life as a RA patient
MY JOURNEY LIFE AS A RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) PATIENT
My journey begun in 2004, when I was diagnosed to be suffering as a positive RA patient, Ra is related with joint problem it is a chronic illness. This disease is unknown causes but as the world said it all about system immune itself. I was in pain most of the time although I did the necessary things like referring to specialist, taking non steroid pain killer, see physiotherapy, doing some nerve exercise but the pain did not abate, as far as I concern until now no medicine specific can cure the pain only the certain type of medicine can control and prevent the joint from early damage.
The years have been gone with many experience for me, that I cannot say or explain by any word looking many alternative that cannot count by number but all is about to find cure and still believed that every pain have pill to cure, I can said that this journey is not easy. As a government staff force me sometimes went out far from my comfort zone (sweet home) for attending seminar or any program related to job, going to Kuala Lumpur for quite sometimes in years, even still in pain I can still go out, thank you God because I can still manage to do it and return to home safely.
Almost Seven years gone without any good solution, during the time I only depend on medicine and of course the pain killer to continue my life. My life is not easy every morning I have problem to wake up because of swelling on my toe, all my finger became crams as well, I was flu...oh my GOD my knee, I cannot explain how pain it is. I continue my life with fullest of sadness, thank you g GOD even though is tough for me, you always give me strength to continue my life with supporter around me, sometimes I am down but my family there to support me in whatever situation .
Today, although I still suffer the hard condition, I have learned how to manage my lifestyle, being aware from stress level in order to minimize the effect. I rather say that I am hypocrite if I sad I am not down because of this terrible life, I always think why God choose me to facing all this, why me? But I promise whatever happened to me I must continue my life stay happily, continue my life as usual by refreshing back all my sweet memory in life, my life in campus with fullest of my good friend around me. Whatever happened I carry on my life and of course sometimes I need some space to breath. I do hope that have some solution of my problem health one day. I want to share everything to everyone because as you all know sharing is about caring each other.
